Useful contacts

Reporting crime and anti-social behaviour
There are a number of options for reporting anti-social behaviour. It is important we report any issues on our block so that Camden and the Police are aware of them.

  • Emergency call 999 to report a crime that is taking place or about to take place

  • Non-emergency police call 101 (24 hours)

  • The Gospel Oak Police Safer Neighbourhood Team can be contacted on 07342 084366 or via email gospeloak.snt@met.police.uk

  • Crime Stoppers for anonymous crime reporting call 0800 555111

  • If antisocial behaviour such as drug related ASB, youth related ASB, threatening behaviour is causing you distress or alarm you should report this to the Camden Community Safety Team. Email communitysafety@camden.gov.uk or telephone 020 79742915 (9am–5pm Mon-Fri). Or between 4pm and 4am you can call the Responsive Security Patrol on 020 79744444 seven days a week.

  • To report street based anti-social behaviour contact the Camden Routes off The Streets team which is commissioned by the London Borough of Camden to end street homelessness and reduce street based anti-social behaviour. Telephone 020 7846 3535 or email streetsafe@cgl.org.uk. You can also download the App here.

Electricity meter reading
Most flats have their meters located in external cupboards in-between the blocks. Although residents don’t have access to these, a reading can be obtained from Camden who have a dedicated team. Email meterreading@camden.gov.uk or call 020 79742069.

Camden Repairs
Camden Council is responsible for repairs inside tenants’ homes, communal areas, as well as repairs to the building which may also affect the inside of leaseholder homes. For emergency repairs call 020 7974 4444 (option 3 then 1). More details about repairs can be found on the Camden website.

Estate Lighting
Please report any broken lights etc. to Camden Repairs (number above).

The actual contractors for estate lighting are currently OpenView 0845 071 9110.

Where’s my stopcock?
If you haven’t been disconnected from the water tanks on the roof, you will have two stopcocks. One that feeds the bathroom, and one for the mains water that feeds your kitchen. Their location seems to vary from flat to flat, but in majority of A maisonettes, the mains stopcock is located just by the front door, under the tiles. In B maisonettes, the mains stopcock is often in the kitchen. In the one-bedroom B flats, it’s sometimes under the bath.

Rubbish and Recycling
Rubbish and recycling is collected every Monday morning. Please help to keep our walkway clean and deter rats and foxes.

  • Put your waste in bin bags, securely tied and placed inside a bin.

  • Please don’t put your rubbish out before collection date.

  • Recycling needs to go in clear recycling bags which can be ordered through the Camden website. Large cardboard boxes should be broken down and placed in the recycling bag. There is also a recycling bin in the neighbouring Waxham estate carpark.

  • Food waste should be placed in a caddy liner and then placed in the caddy, you can order both through the Camden website.

Large household waste items
Please don’t leave large waste items such as furniture and appliances outside on the walkway. These are not collected with the rubbish. You can organise for large items to be collected by Veolia on 020 3567 8105. Large electrical appliances can be collected for free by Clearabee, or by Veolia for a separate charge. You get two free collections a year if you’re a Camden resident and are aged 65 and over, or receive the maximum Council Tax Support. Alternatively you can take them to Regis Road Recycling Centre — please note you need to book a slot before you do.

Reporting fly-tipping, graffiti and other cleansing issues
You can do this on the Camden website. Or through the Clean Camden App.

Caretaker duties
Recent changes at Camden should mean that we see our caretaker more often on our block. The caretaker is responsible for cleaning the communal areas, as well as checking all the lighting is working. Please let’s do our bit to keep the walkway tidy so that the caretaker can spend his time cleaning as opposed to clearing!
